I am very happy with my selection. The soup was a delightful, a wonderful balance of flavor. Fallowed by fish and chips. The breading was a surprise, it was crunchy and light. I am a fish snob, and their fish is frozen. So sad, but I understand. Cob is one of the few fishes I do not believe is to badly damaged by freezing. It was tender and flavorful. This translates to proper freezing and defrosting and being breaded at before cooking with the fats it was cooked in at proper temperature. The fries are fresh also. I recommend this place to eat, if this is an example of their food

The Fishtale is super cute! We were out riding the Harley and needed nourishment. We stopped here and I couldn't have been more pleased! From the outside, it looks sorta funky, but the inside looks like.... I'm not even sure how to describe it. I felt like I was IN a log cabin but then there were canoes and fake fish hanging on the walls. So.... I dunno what to tell you. I LOVED it, but it was a funny mixture of stuff. My favorite part was the kitchen. The kitchen was hidden behind a fake cabin with a boat on the roof. I mean, it was so cool! I totally failed to take a picture of it though. I started with a bloody and holy crap! It was amazing! The special of the day was a fajita wrap made with prime rib. Oh hello, my ears perked up and I was instantly sold. Prime rib is my jam and I love it with all my heart. My guy and I decided to split the fajita wrap with cottage cheese (ew, him) and the french dip with fries (yum, me). Everything was so delicious. The fajita wrap was everything. I was eyeing my guys half, even though it was in his hand and half gone.... The french dip was tasty and enjoyable, but after the fajita wrap, nothing could compare. I loved the fries, crispy on the outside and soft inside. Apparently, this place has some sort of food challenge involving a 3 pound burger and a ton of other crap that equals six pounds of food. I can neither confirm nor deny this. I only saw it on the website when I was searching for the menu on their site. All in all, it was a great meal! Would I make a special trip just for the food? Probably not. But if you're out on a motorcycle ride or passing through town, it's totally worth a stop.

We were sold on the French Dip and the Reuben. The Frenchman had been looking for a good Dip for days and we found it here. I also had the Vormacha soup. It was a plentiful cup of vegetables in a creamy dill goodness. I had not had it before. We also like the fishing decor and the extensive quality tap selections.

Cute looking new building, built to look old. Stopped by looking for a place to eat. Talked to host, said they had happy hour. Told him we would stop back. When we stopped back we were seated on an empty deck in back. Told him we like to order a beers on happy hour. He said no happy hour today. We said we just told you had a happy today. He rudely, called us liers in so many words and left. We were still going to order beers and spilt a walleye and chips. But no one ever came back to take our order. So we left, the place was mostly empty on the way out (not a good sign for 5 PM sat). No wonder -- with such rude management. We will not return next time in New Prague.

Yikes...summer has been too busy and I am way behind on reviews....I met up with a bunch of family members for a mini-reunion at Fish Tale. We got a spot on the back patio which was great for the summer evening. I ordered the walleye fingers basket and enjoyed a nice Surly beer from their generous taplist. Positives: -Nice taplist for beer, plenty of favorites in bottle as well. -Walleye fingers were tasty. Negatives: -Portions were a little small. Fun place to meet up with family, but the portion size threw me off a bit...maybe I was just a little famished that night? Service was pretty good, but our waitress seemed very overwhelmed that evening with a large group.

If you find yourself in New Prague, this is a pretty classic restaurant for the area. It's all American, with a bit of a Czech/Slovak twist - as this area was settled by Czech immigrants and many still remain today. So it's really endearing to see all the Czech touches inside the restaurant and on the menu. Their rendition of vomacka soup is DELICIOUS! The amount of dill is perfect, I really love a dilly soup and they do it well. There is also homemade kielbasa, I have not tried it yet! The food in general is all American like mentioned, so your typical sandwiches, burgers, salads, basket meals, and there are also some entrees like surf & turf, roasted chicken, walleye & steak. There's a full bar as well. I had the chef salad - the menu listed mixed greens, however it was mainly iceberg with some romaine. When I think of mixed greens I imagine dark green lettuces. The salad was big, lots of items. The tomatoes were hard and flavorless. I asked for olive oil & vinegar, but was given vinegar for fish & chips (you should always bring balsamic when a customer asks for this) and the olive oil was as thin & runny as the vinegar - seemed very watered down. needless to say, I asked for a vinaigrette then. Appetizers are pricey, most items are right around $10 - like onion rings for $9.99!? That's a bit absurd. Just onion slices and breading...they should be $4-5. This is definitely a small-town restaurant with a little bit of everything, plus has that little Czech twist to it.

Best burger I've had in a long time. Coleslaw was fresh. Decor was cabin like and fun. We visited on Friday afternoon, there were a few other guests. Service was fine but when it was time to leave there was no one around. There appeared to be 3 servers plus kitchen staff but only one tearing around serving guests. Guests at the next table actually figured their bill out, left money on the table and exited.

Their ribs on Wednesday nights are amazing. Fall off the bone, not too fatty, full of flavor, and a great sweet barbecue sauce. All you can eat too. Love the walleye fingers too. I also am a huge fan of the Vomacka Soup, if you like a good hearty vegetable soup and enjoy dill flavor (like in veggie dip) then you'll love it. Great small town lodge vibe/decor here and a surprisingly good beer and wine list considering it's small town dining.

I was in the area visiting family. We had dinner here and it was good! I had the shrimp. Ok... It was good but obviously shrimp aren't native to MN. I would have gone with a fresh catch meal if I had to do it all over again. I was part of a group of 4. Besides my shrimp (which were good), someone had the prime rib (she loved it), someone had the pork and dumpling special (he loved it), and the 4th person had the walleye (she loved it and so did I as I tried it). Prices were a little on the high side but all in all worth it. Friendly service. It was quite busy for a Tuesday evening. I'd definitely go back next time I'm in town.

Favorite place in surrounding area! Has the BEST Bloody Mary's. The food is always great and the staff is very attentive. Have yet to have a negative experience!

We were looking for a place to grab a bite after a long hike, and based on a map search, decided to try this place out. The service was friendly, fast and very accommodating. We wanted to sit outside but avoid direct sunlight and they gave us a few options. We ended up under an umbrella on their patio and it was a perfect little spot to enjoy the weather and reggae tunes they were playing. I had a Caprese sandwich which also included avocado, and it was delicious. Seriously, I will probably make this at home in the future because it was such a yummy combo. The hubs had a kielbasa sandwich which he raved about. We were looking for something basic to refuel, but ended up getting a better meal and service than we were expecting. If we are ever in New Prague, we would definitely come back!

I love coming here for lunch. The setting is comfortable and food selection great! The avocado caprese sandwich is delicious, and I always get a bowl of vomacka soup- a Czech recipe that's hard to find in restaurants. Service is typical, the staff is always friendly and food comes out quickly.

We went to Fishtails looking for a good fish dinner during Lent. We didn't find it. The fish tasted just horrible. It was hard and dry and certainly didn't appear freshly cooked. The atmosphere is nice and it was crowded, but I can't imagine why. We won't be going back, but I would advise if you go and order the fish fry (or any fried food) to ASK specifically if it will be cooked to order while you wait or will you receive something sitting under a heat lamp.

I definitely like the decor and the atmosphere. I'm not a big fan of fish in general, but they have good food and one of the best places to visit in New Prague.

Setting was great for our family with young kids. Staff was friendly and courteous. We ordered breakfast, food was slightly cold and just mediocre.

I had an opportunity to meet with a couple of old friends and co workers for a few beers and dinner here. The atmosphere reminded me of an upscale lodge up north (think fish mounts, logs and wood). Good/Fair selection of tap beers and a typical menu for a Minnesota Bar/Grill with a bit of Czech ethnic food available (forgot the name of the soup). Food was good, service was fast and friendly. My Club sandwich was large, so large I needed to take half of it home, and I'm a big eater.
